Bio: Lorraine Chapman danced professionally with Eliot Feld Ballets/NY and Ballet British Columbia as well as for several Boston-based choreographers including Amy Spencer, Richard Colton, Diane Arvanites, José Mateo, and Marcus Schulkind. As a choreographer Chapman has received several grants and has created works for numerous venues, festivals and companies including On The Boards-Northwest New Works, The Yard, World Music/CRASHarts, Dancing Nor’easters-Arts & Ideas, Alberta Ballet, Summer Stages Dance, Festival Ballet of Providence, SOAKING WET, Stonington Opera House, Jacob’s Pillow Dance Inside/Out, Yes, Virginia – Dance, Flynn Center Performing Arts, The Dance Complex, Boston Center for the Arts, Boston Conservatory at Berklee, Canterbury Shaker Village, Plymouth State University, and Pinkerton Academy/Stockbridge Theatre. She officially formed LCTC in 2002 and was represented by Pentacle — a NYC-based management support organization 2013–2016 performing in such spaces as Dixon Place and Citigroup Theater Alvin Ailey. Chapman’s awards include NEST Grants from NEFA, a Live Arts Boston Grant and a Brother Thomas Fellowship from The Boston Foundation, a Boston Dance Alliance Rehearsal & Retreat Fellowship, a Boston Center for the Arts Dance Residency, a Summer Stages Dance/Baryshnikov Arts Center Residency, Dance Artist-In-Residence for the Arts Alliance of Northern New Hampshire, Dance-Artist-In-Residence at Canterbury Shaker Village as well as being featured in Dance Magazine as one of “25 To Watch”. She received her dance training at the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School and L’Ecole Superieure De Danse Du Quebec as well as from Boston veterans including Frances Kotelly and Samuel Kurkjian. She currently teaches dance for Urbanity Dance, Northeast School of Ballet, Acton School of Ballet, and Ballet Arts Centre of Winchester where she is the co-director of their pre-professional Emersion program. Lorraine recently received her Kane School Pilates mat certification and hopes to combine 48 years of dance-based movement knowledge with Pilates to enhance her skills and expertise as a movement instructor.
